Prayer Flags

Several of our members are also members of SAQA.  In May those members made Pray Flags for the covered bridge at FIT, for the conference.  We also made fabric flowers for the center of tables.  These center pieces became door prizes at the end of the Friday night banquet.

A few more pictures from our meeting.

DDFA monthly meeting Extra Good!

Our monthly meeting was very interesting and had wonderful Show & Tell.  Gabriele's new Witch Quilt was a winner.  Bev had two piece of rust dyed fabric in deep gold tones and a ice dyed quilt in jewel colors, beading and black thread outlines of flowers and leaves.  Terri, our guest, showed several small quilts with thread painting and great used of colored pencils.  Jill had used her fabric from last month to create covers for ipads.
Ellen's three small quilts had entertaining stories and two were very different from her usual work.

Ellen presented a

excellent program on Photo inspiration.  Several members had photos and the final quilt.
It was very helpful to see the steps and work that went into many quilts that had begun with a great photo.
Thank you Ellen, I will benefit from this detailed journey  of many of you lovely quilts.

DDFA annual Retreat

July 12, 13, and 14, 2013 members went on our annual retreat.  We stay at the Yellow Flamingo in Cocoa Beach.  We are a block from the ocean but only walk the beach in early morning or Saturday evening after a wonderful seafood dinner.
The group was small this year, but fun as always.

Show and Tell at August Meeting

The August meeting was fun and here are a few pictures to share.

Monday, July 16, 2012

DDFA went on their annual retreat to Cocoa Beach. All members did not attend, but those who did had a wonderful time. We arrived around noon Friday, unpacked, talked, had lunch, talked, set up projects and shared art ideas until dinner. The Shark Pit is within walking distance and a menu for all. Saturday two more members joined us for the day and Ellen Lindner showed us her techniques for a collage art piece. That evening we had dinner out again and on to "Art Gallery of Viera", where Dij Pacarro has some of her work on display. Sunday we slowly packed up and talked about our great week-end together.

Ice Dyeing

I believe Saturday's playday was a huge success. Many want to keep playing with this technique and Dij has a shirt which shows the great colors.

Sunday, April 22, 2012

This past Saturday was a playday for DDFA at RiverHouse. We invited another fiber arts group, Seams Unique, to join us. Jill Brown showed us ice dyeing and Andrea Luliak followed with demos on silk screening and Photo EZ screens. Everyone was happy to play with dye, ice, stencils, etc. I believe most of us will try at least one technique again.

January 2011 Program

The first program of the year is on new techniques. I traveled to a Iowa Retreat and created a mixed media doll. Some of the products are great for adding texture to any art quilt as well as to use on dolls. Much to my surprise I sold the doll which I was to use in my demo, but do have a picture to share
